Mike has lived on the Peninsula his entire life. His parents moved to Yorktown from Hampton when he was 4 years old. He attended school, from elementary to high school, in York County. As a teen, he started his own landscaping business and had residential and commercial clients up and down the route 17 corridor.
Mike attended Clemson University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Science and Management. While at Clemson, he met his wife Jill, and they chose Yorktown to live and raise their family.
After college Mike worked for a local commercial and industrial construction company. Starting as a project estimator, and then moving to a field supervisor, he built many of the area's landmark buildings such as the Ferguson Performing Arts Center and the Harrison Opera House. His company also built many of our local schools, and he has worked on most of the industrial plants and facilities, including Newport News Shipbuilding, Siemens, and Canon. Mike and his brother purchased the company, and Mike was the CEO and ran all the field crews for the company.
In 2011 Mike and his family decided it was time for a professional change, and he began his real estate career. Mike was one of the first agents to join the Keller Williams Elite-Peninsula office. He was instrumental in bringing the KW brand and culture to the Peninsula. In 2012 he recruited Tiffany McDonough, and she joined the team as his Transaction Coordinator. Together they quickly become one of the area's most successful real estate teams.
The team expanded and several positions were added. In 2016 Reames Realty Group moved into their current office in Yorktown. Being located in Yorktown has enabled many of their friends and clients the convenience to stop by and conduct business or visit.
In the fall of 2018, Reames Realty left the Keller Williams umbrella. Their signs and logo changed, but they still provide the same level of service and marketing that their clients have come to expect.
Mike and his wife Jill met at Clemson University and have been married for 24 years. Jill works for York County Public Schools as a first-grade teacher at Dare Elementary. Together they have three children, Jackson who is a sophomore in college, Andy who is a senior at York High School, and Meredith who is a sophomore at York High School.
